Hello, my name is Pauline.

I have seen the benefit gardening and outdoor learning have on children and adults’ wellbeing during my career as a primary school teacher.

I qualified as a Social and Therapeutic Practitioner (STH) to understand the ways in which gardening and outdoor learning can help different groups.

I created Gardening for Wellbeing to work with schools, nurseries, charities and groups to help children and adults connected with nature.

How I can help you?

Group gardening for wellbeing sessions.

In these sessions I work with adults of all abilities to spend some time outside, connecting with nature and learning the basics of gardening.

Tailored STH sessions for small groups or individuals.

These sessions are planned to work to specific outcomes that are required by NHS providers, therapists and schools to support the individuals or groups with their wellbeing.

Outdoor learning for different age groups linked to the National Curriculum.

Using my knowledge of the National Curriculum and experience as outdoor learning lead in my last school, I facilitate the learning required.

Staff training and assistance developing your outdoor area.

Here I provided trainings for staff meetings, support staff training plus support developing your outside area to use as a wellbeing space or an outdoor learning area or both!

More about me.

Hello,

Let me tell you more about myself, my name is Pauline York and I am an ex teacher with over 20 years experience working in education.

During my time as a teacher, I held the position of Science and Outdoor Learning lead, obtaining the Primary Science Quality Mark, silver Guilt, for my last school. Collaborating with the teachers, I wrote the Science curriculum for the whole school with an emphasis on outdoor learning.  Alongside this I developed the school allotment and wildlife areas.  In the allotment the children grew vegetables which they later harvested and prepared for the cook so that she could make soup, which the whole school shared.  The wildlife area was used various lessons by all year groups.

I am also recently qualified as a Social and Therapeutic Horticulture Practitioner, and regularly work with children and adults to support their needs through gardening and connecting with nature.

I volunteered at a local Forest School whilst completing the level 1 training, which gave me a good understanding of the Forest School pedagogy.  During this time, I attended various trainings, including risk benefit training.
